Nicolas Maillart Champagne
Tracing its roots back to 1753, the Nicolas Maillart family has a rich history of vine cultivation in the neighboring village of Chamery. Evidence suggests that the tradition may date back even further, with a 1533 document mentioning Pierre Maillart, a sworn surveyor, and a "measure of vines" for Saint Nicaise Abbey.
Now led by the ninth generation, Nicolas Maillart returned in 2003 after studying engineering and oenology to continue the family's 300-year-old legacy. He upholds the house philosophy of expressing the full potential of the Champagne terroirs in their wines.
Committed to environmental sustainability, the family installed 130 square meters of photovoltaic panels in 2009, generating 90% of their power needs and significantly reducing their carbon footprint.
